Christy Rather is the Manager of Technical Assistance for the National Summer Learning Association (NSLA). Her primary role is to implement projects and initiatives focused on improving the quality of summer learning programs, including leading a team of field consultants that support NSLA’s strategic objective to Drive Quality to Scale.
Prior to joining NSLA, Christy was an Extended Learning Program Specialist for the 21st Century Community Learning Center team at the Maryland State Department of Education. She also served as the Director of Education and Operations for a nonprofit organization in Baltimore, recognized for its signature out-of-school time programs. Supported by her leadership in staff development and training, program design, and program coordination, she brings more than 20 years of youth development experience to her role at NSLA.
Christy holds a master’s degree in nonprofit management from Notre Dame of Maryland University and a bachelor’s degree in English language and literature from University of Maryland. She is also a certified trainer in Youth Work Methods through the David P. Weikart Center for Youth Program Quality.
